Why Is Reading Together Important?

You might be thinking, my kid reads on their own all the time, so why is it important for me to read with them? There are a variety of reasons it is beneficial for you to read with your children, but overall it will help boost their confidence in themselves! Reading with children helps improve their ability to express emotions, prepare them for academics, and encourage creativity. Reading with you will help keep your child engaged in the story and help them understand things they can’t fully comprehend on their own. You can even join in on the fun by reading aloud to your children, which has been shown to improve children’s emotional, social, and character development.

Reading with your child can also create a new kind of bond between you both and help them form a healthy relationship with reading! Let’s face it, as they get older; they are going to have to do a lot of reading throughout their years in school; if you make reading a fun activity with you now; it won’t feel like such a chore as they get older. Plus, reading together can create a new kind of connection between you; reading will become the fun little hobby you do together; as they continue to get older and more independent, this can become your new thing to do together!

So Why Do A Reading Challenge?

Starting a reading challenge can do many things for you and your child. First of all, it will hold you and your child accountable for achieving your goal.
